When Can I Expect My Hardware?

At NBH, we start each project by collecting a full picture of your goals. We want to make sure that we understand your design, priorities, timeline, and budget. That way, we can not only provide the products best suited for your intentions but also thoughtfully manage the process and offer solutions when necessary.

Supply Chain Update

In 2021, supply chain issues do continue to permeate our industry, and we are still grappling with longer hardware lead times. We’re seeing a combination of raw materials shortages, ground and marine transportation delays, and understaffed production facilities. These obstacles have overstressed all aspects of the building materials manufacturing system.

Local Industry & NBH

We’ve seen increases in consumer demand as many people have been reevaluating their living spaces over the past year, and deciding to remodel. At NBH, we’re happy to hear from many of our customers that you are busier than ever, and have exciting new projects on the horizon! Our unique knowledge of the hardware manufacturing industry means that we’re ready to make sure product sourcing is still as simple and smooth as possible for you. We want to enable you to provide your customers with reliable information and beautiful outcomes. With longer lead times and sometimes unexpected hold-ups from some hardware vendors, here’s how we ensure you and your customers get what you need on time:

    1. Encourage earlier ordering. The sooner you and your client begin the hardware selection process, the more options will be available within your timeframe. Many hardware manufacturers have lead times two or three times longer than usual. We suggest making time for hardware earlier on in your project.
    2. Communication, transparency, and planning. We’ll make sure you know the facts about our manufacturer’s shipping expectations, and we will proactively reach out to you with updates. If an order does not progress according to plan, we’ll always provide you with alternate solutions, customized to you and your project.
    3. Expanded in-stock choices. In response to longer lead times for many staple items as well as special-order items, we have significantly increased the breadth and quantity of products in-stock at our local Portland warehouse. In particular, we’ve brought in dozens of new cabinet hardware designs in a range of finishes, sizes, and styles to make it easier than ever to pick out the perfect knobs and pulls for any project, at any time. Take a look at our new designer stock cabinet hardware collections here.

While this time is challenging in different ways for each member of our Design, Builder, and Woodworking community, your team at NBH is dedicated to guiding you through, reducing stress and difficulties, and ensuring you can deliver your best work to your clients.
